On Thursday, the district court in Visp in Valais sentenced three landlords of the Walliserkanne restaurant in Zermatt to conditional fines. They had violated the anti-Covid measures on several occasions and obstructed the authorities in their work.

Their restaurant was closed for two weeks at the end of October 2021 by order of the Valais State Council. The three landlords, a married couple and their son, received conditional fines of between CHF 7,680 and 9,750 with a probation period of two or three years. They were also fined.

Immediately after the public reading of the verdict, the lawyers for the three defendants announced that their clients would appeal to the cantonal court.

During checks in October 2021, the Valais police discovered that a restaurant in Zermatt had violated several anti-Covid measures. In particular, the staff were not wearing face masks and were not checking the contact details and Covid certificate of customers.
