There will be a change in the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at insurer Zurich. Claudia Cordioli will replace the long-standing incumbent George Quinn next year.

Cordioli will take up the position on March 1, 2024, subject to regulatory approval, according to a press release issued on Thursday. She has also been appointed as a member of the Group Executive Board. Meanwhile, Quinn has decided to step down after ten years as Group CFO. He will continue to oversee the closing of the 2023 annual results and "ensure a smooth transition", according to the statement.

The new CFO joins Zurich from Swiss Re, where she has held various positions in finance and other business areas over the past 20 years. Most recently, she was Group Finance Director, where she was responsible for central finance functions and the transition to IFRS 17 accounting. Prior to that, she was CFO of the Reinsurance division and, even earlier, head of the reinsurance business in Western and Southern Europe.

For his part, Quinn joined the Swiss primary insurer from Swiss Re in 2014 as Group CFO and member of the Group Executive Board. During his tenure, Zurich achieved "strong growth and above-average shareholder returns", according to the press release.
