The Zurich city police have had a work of art set up after a demonstration disposed of. The combustion engine that had been laid to rest should have been allowed to stand in Platzspitzpark for a week.
A spokesperson for the Zurich city police confirmed to the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper on Wednesday that the installation had been "wrongly disposed of". The artist is demanding an apology and compensation in the amount of 7886 francs.
The work of art was carried to its grave through Zurich on November 16, accompanied by several hundred people. The action took place in the run-up to last Sunday's highway referendum. It was organized by "Act Now", a group that was founded after the "Renovate Switzerland" 2023 campaign.
As the article in the "Tages-Anzeiger" shows, permission had been granted to erect the artwork for a week. However, Entsorgung & Recycling Zürich received the order for disposal on the day of the demonstration.
Only the 120 kilogram combustion engine was found. It was lying with the scrap iron in a yard. The coffin, a tent and six Euro pallets had already been destroyed.
