A 51-year-old man allegedly killed his wife with numerous stab wounds and cuts in November 2022. The Zurich public prosecutor's office demanded a murder conviction at the Zurich district court on Wednesday.
The public prosecutor's office demanded a life sentence. The motive for the crime was his "absolute claim to power" over his wife. When she had had enough and wanted to leave him, he wiped her out.
Parts of the crime were recorded by a camera that the accused had installed in the apartment to monitor his wife. He had a sadistic approach to the crime, said the public prosecutor. He had inflicted non-life-threatening, painful stabs and cuts on her for minutes in order to torture her.
Only in the end did the Swiss man with Turkish roots fatally injure the woman. The victim suffered an "agonizing, gruesome death from bleeding to death", as the public prosecutor said.
