Swiss Airlines announces a significant leadership change as CEO Dieter Vranckx prepares for a new role within the Lufthansa Group. After steering Swiss for over three years, Vranckx will join Lufthansa’s Executive Board as the “Chief Commercial Officer” starting July 1, 2024.

His tenure at Swiss saw him navigate the airline through the turbulent skies of the Covid-19 pandemic, demonstrating resilience and strategic foresight.

Vranckx’s new responsibilities at Lufthansa include heading the “Global Markets and Commercial Management Hubs,” underscoring the importance of customer experience and brand management in today’s competitive airline industry. This move reflects Lufthansa’s commitment to strengthening its global market position and enhancing customer service across its brands.

During his time at Swiss, Vranckx, a Swiss-Belgian national with a rich background in the aviation sector, was lauded for his leadership qualities and ability to lead the airline out of the pandemic-induced downturn. His journey in the industry, spanning over two decades, includes significant stints at Lufthansa Group and a notable tenure at Swiss and the erstwhile Swissair.
