Swiss Hotels Are Not Prepared for Electric Cars

Electric vehicle charging stations are still relatively rare in Swiss hotels, but the number is steadily increasing as the industry sees the potential benefits. In Switzerland, around one in five new cars are now powered solely by electricity, and when plug-in hybrids are included, the share of "plug-in vehicles" is almost 30%. Electric cars can be charged while parked, but charging stations are not always available. According to Booking.com, of the almost 10,000 hotels in Switzerland, only about 1100 offer charging stations. Across the entire industry, the number of hotels with charging stations is slightly above 10%. The installation of charging stations in hotels has increased in recent years and is expected to continue to do so. However, the availability of installed charging stations is often not guaranteed, and the setup, management and administration of charging infrastructure can be complex, posing a challenge for the industry. Nevertheless, hotels can benefit from offering charging stations by attracting new customers and positioning themselves as progressive and sustainable businesses.nnnnnnnnnnnn
