Alexandre Fasel, the Swiss State Secretary, will travel to Brussels on Thursday next week for an introductory visit. He will meet with EU negotiator Juraj Nociar. The meeting, confirmed by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (EDA), will take place on September 21st and will be Fasel's first visit in this capacity. The visit is intended to allow the two diplomats to get to know each other, rather than to discuss the details of the negotiations. The talks, which began under Fasel's predecessor Livia Leu, will cover a range of topics, including agreements on electricity, health and food safety, as well as the Swiss re-entry into the EU research and education programmes "Horizon Europe" and "Erasmus plus". Other topics include institutional issues such as dispute resolution and dynamic legal adoption. Fasel, a 62-year-old career diplomat, took office as State Secretary on September 1st. He has experience in multilateral and bilateral affairs, having previously served as Special Envoy for Science Diplomacy in Geneva.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
