The National Council Will Improve Oversight of High-Security Laboratories

The Swiss National Council has agreed to a motion from its Business Review Commission (GPK-N) to review and improve the control of high-security laboratories by the cantons. The GPK-N found that the cantons have very different approaches to the control of these laboratories and that the federal government's oversight is limited. The GPK-N therefore proposed that the federal government and cantons should review the resources available to the cantons for controlling these laboratories and consider whether additional support from the federal government is needed. The federal government has requested that the motion be accepted.
