A 16-year-old boy died in a motorcycle accident in Riddes VS on Sunday morning. The motorcycle crashed in a roundabout after the front wheel collided with the street curbing. A second 16-year-old youth on the motorcycle was injured.
The accident happened shortly after 4:30 am on the road from Saxon to Sitten, according to the Valais Cantonal Police. Both the driver and the passenger were seriously injured in the crash. One of the youths died at the scene. The other was taken to the hospital in Sitten.
It is not known whether the fatally injured person was the driver or the passenger. Both victims were from the Lower Valais. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.
Anyone who can provide relevant information about the cause of the accident in Riddes are asked to report to the operations center of the cantonal police under number 027 326 56 56.
