Switzerland Discusses Inflation and Ukraine War at World Summit

A high-ranking Swiss delegation is attending the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) in Marrakech, Morocco from Wednesday to Saturday. Discussions will focus on the consequences of inflation and the Ukraine war. The delegation includes Finance Minister Karin Keller-Sutter, Economic Minister Guy Parmelin and National Bank President Thomas Jordan. The meeting of the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors will also take place. Switzerland has been invited as a guest since 2016.

At the meeting, the IMF and WBG will discuss how to best support members in tackling global issues such as climate change and poverty. Switzerland is also advocating for a sustainable and transparent approach to public debt. Discussions will also focus on how to further improve the regulatory framework for global systemically important banks. Switzerland also supports the WBG and IMF's commitment to economic stabilization in Ukraine, including in terms of reconstruction.
