Solothurn: Bishop (Middle) Likely Re-Elected

The Swiss canton of Solothurn held its elections for the Council of States on Sunday, with the incumbent Pirmin Bischof (centre) winning the first seat according to the preliminary results. Christian Imark (SVP) came in second, with 73 out of 107 municipalities counted. Bischof has achieved an absolute majority and is set to be re-elected for a fourth term. The second seat will likely be decided in a second round of voting, with Remo Ankli (FDP) and Franziska Roth (SP) currently in the running. Felix Wettstein (Green) and Dieter Künzli (GLP) are further behind. The seat of Council of States member Roberto Zanetti (SP) will be vacant.
