Results of the Council of States Election in the Canton of Valais

In the canton of Valais, Switzerland, no one was elected to the Council of States in the first round of voting. A second round of voting will take place on November 12th. The absolute majority required to be elected is 54,206 votes.
The canton of Valais is one of the 26 cantons of Switzerland. It is located in the southwestern part of the country and is the second largest canton in terms of area. The canton is divided into seven districts and has a population of approximately 350,000 people.
The Council of States is the upper house of the Swiss Federal Assembly. It is composed of 46 members, two of whom are elected from each canton. The members of the Council of States are elected by the citizens of the canton in a two-round system. In the first round, a candidate must receive an absolute majority of votes (more than 50%) to be elected. If no candidate receives an absolute majority, a second round of voting is held. In the second round, the candidate with the most votes is elected.
In the first round of voting in Valais, no candidate received an absolute majority of votes. As a result, a second round of voting will take place on November 12th. The absolute majority required to be elected is 54,206 votes. The results of the second round of voting will determine who will represent Valais in the Council of States.
