The four largest cantons of Switzerland have seen the FDP and SVP lose seats due to list connections, while the SP, GLP and EDU have benefited. In Zurich, the EDU would have one less seat without list connections, while the SVP would have one more. In Bern, the GLP benefited while the FDP lost out. In Vaud, the SP gained, with the FDP again being the loser. In Aargau, list connections had no effect on the seat distribution.

Almost all parties are looking to reduce the number of lists for the 2027 elections. The SVP has announced a proposal to introduce an upper limit for lists per party, while the FDP has proposed a postulate in the same direction. The Greens are looking to limit the number of sub-lists. The GLP and EVP have already taken action, calling for a radical overhaul of the electoral system to make list connections unnecessary.
