With E-Voting, More Swiss Abroad Vote

The Swiss Abroad Organisation (ASO) has reported that more Swiss abroad have voted in the recent elections due to the introduction of e-voting. This voting behaviour is similar to that of the Swiss population, with the two e-voting test cantons of Basel-Stadt and St. Gallen seeing an increase in voter turnout. The Swiss Abroad tend to vote more left-wing and green than the Swiss population, but overall voter turnout was lower than in 2019. The ASO believes that the availability of e-voting has made it easier for Swiss abroad to exercise their political rights. So far, no security flaws have been detected in the new e-voting system of the Swiss Post, suggesting that it could be rolled out to all cantons.
