On November 12th, three Freiburg women will compete for two seats in the Ständerat. Isabelle Chassot of the Mitte, Johanna Gapany of the FDP and Alizée Rey of the SP will face off in the second round of voting. SVP-man Pierre-André Page has withdrawn from the race, leaving the three women to compete for the two seats. Chassot is seen as the clear favorite for the second seat. The SVP Central Committee met on Tuesday evening in Siviriez and confirmed Page's decision to not enter the race. This withdrawal is part of a renewal of the bourgeoise alliance, which will also apply to the cantonal elections in 2026. The three women will compete for the two seats in less than three weeks, with Chassot as the clear favorite.
