Three parties hold their delegate assemblies on Saturday

The Center Party and the GLP are meeting for their delegates' assemblies in Thun BE on Saturday. The parties will adopt the slogans for upcoming national votes. Meanwhile, the SVP will meet in Alterswilen TG to discuss its core issues.
The delegates of the Center Party want to celebrate their election success of October 22, as stated in the invitation. It was able to increase its voter share to 14.1 percent. "Clearly the strongest force in the political center" is the title of the speech that party president Gerhard Pfister intends to give.
In addition to the party president, the outgoing Federal Chancellor Walter Thurnherr will also give a speech. The party will also adopt the slogans for the two popular initiatives "For a better life in old age (initiative for a 13th AHV pension)" and "For secure and sustainable old-age provision (pension initiative)". The Federal Council and Parliament reject both popular initiatives.
The electorate will vote on both proposals on March 3, 2024. Another item on the agenda is the adoption of a position on the referendum on the reform of the occupational pension scheme (BVG). This is expected to be voted on in summer 2024.
The GLP will also adopt the slogans on the two popular initiatives and the BVG referendum. In addition, the confirmation elections for the Executive Board are on the agenda.
The SVP expects a visit from its Federal Councillors
The two Federal Councillors Guy Parmelin and Albert Rösti are expected as guests at the SVP delegates' meeting in the canton of Thurgau. According to the agenda, Martina Bircher, SVP National Councillor from the canton of Aargau, will discuss asylum and immigration policy.
Other topics include Swiss-EU relations, the wars in Europe and the Middle East and Swiss neutrality. A review of the elections is also on the agenda.
