Following the series of fires in Wasseramt, Solothurn, in 2022, a 34-year-old man has been charged with multiple counts of arson. According to the public prosecutor's office, the accused denies the allegations.
The Swiss national has been charged with a total of twelve arsons, as the public prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday. The man from the region is at large, subject to alternative measures such as GPS monitoring.
The sentence requested for the man will be imposed at the hearing before the Bucheggberg-Wasseramt district court, according to a statement from the public prosecutor's office.
Intensive investigations led to the arrest of the suspected arsonist at the end of May 2022. Video footage from the surveillance system at the Kriegstetten school building showed a person entering the school building and leaving again shortly before the fire broke out.
Several forest and club houses and warehouses burned between April 3 and May 21, 2022. There were no injuries.
