The water levels of the lakes in the Three Lakes region fell as expected on Sunday. Although both Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Murten exceeded the critical level, there was no major damage or casualties.

In a communiqué, the Vaudois police announce the end of the critical situation and the imminent lifting of the crisis plan. The water masses in the Three Lakes region were receding. The situation will return to normal as soon as the threshold of 429.75 meters is reached, which will result in the lifting of the intervention plan.

Lakes Neuchâtel and Murten reached or even exceeded the critical level during the course of Saturday. "The preventive measures implemented by the cantonal command staff helped to contain possible flooding on the shores of the Vaud lakes", writes the cantonal police.

In the last few days, officers have been called out 19 times due to flooded roads and 14 times due to landslides and rockfalls. Roads had to be closed in six cases. However, the 120 or so firefighters mobilized did not have to carry out any significant operations in connection with the flooding.
