Due to freezing fog, there was a pile-up on the N20 national road in the canton of Neuchâtel early on Sunday morning. According to the police, 16 vehicles were involved in the accident on the road from La Chaux-de-Fonds to Neuchâtel.

Fortunately, there were no serious injuries, according to the Neuchâtel cantonal police. Three people were treated for minor injuries.

The pile-up occurred at around 07:30 between Malvilliers and Boudevilliers. According to the police, the accident was caused by "extremely slippery road conditions" following freezing fog. The drivers had therefore not adjusted their speed.

The emergency services deployed a large contingent. Twelve police cars, six fire engines, four ambulances, several maintenance service vehicles and two tow trucks were deployed. The highway was closed for around seven hours for the recovery work.
