Finma President sees search for director well underway

The search for a new Finma Director is "very well underway", according to Marlene Amstad, Chair of the Board of Directors. However, there is no reason to hurry. Amstad also rejected criticism of her management style.
Finma is currently very well positioned with Brigitte Rutishauser as interim director, Amstad said on Tuesday at a media conference for the presentation of a report on the CS crisis in response to a corresponding question. It is also clear that this is an attractive position, she said. Finma Director Urban Angehrn had handed over the Finma management at the end of September.
Amstad also defended herself against criticism of her management style, which had been voiced in several media reports. She did take these reports seriously. However, these were accusations from anonymous sources that "no one on the Board of Directors or the Executive Board would sign".
In addition to the Finma Director, there have also been other changes in the Finma Executive Board and in staff functions this year. However, reports of "waves of departures" in the Executive Board are completely "fact-free", said Amstad. Overall, there are currently even "historically low fluctuation rates" at Finma.
The fact that the Finma Board of Directors has been "more visible" in recent years is due to the extraordinary times with the CS crisis, she said in response to accusations of excessive involvement in operational matters. In this respect, it was an exception that was due "not to the person, but to the times".
