Six arrests after several burglaries in the Basel area

Following break-ins in family homes in Muttenz and Arlesheim and in a clubhouse in Pfeffingen on Sunday night, the Basel region police have arrested six people. Four of the six arrested were minors, as the police announced on Sunday.

Two suspected Moroccan nationals aged 16 and 17 allegedly broke into a detached house on Dürrbergstrasse in Muttenz after 9.30 pm. According to the police, they were arrested near the scene of the crime.

Shortly after 2.30 a.m. on Sunday night, a local resident reported another break-in at a detached house on Mattweg in Arlesheim, according to the police. Patrols from the Basel-Landschaft police were able to stop and arrest the two suspects at the property. The two arrested are an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old Moroccan.

At 4.40 a.m., a clubhouse in Pfeffingen on Hauptstrasse was broken into, as the police reported on Sunday. This was reported by an uninvolved third party. The police were subsequently able to stop and arrest two youths in the immediate vicinity of the scene of the crime. They were a 17-year-old Swiss national and a 17-year-old Slovakian.
