Optimism prevails among Swiss tour operators for the current year. For the most part, they are expecting increases in sales and, in some cases, higher figures than before the coronavirus pandemic, according to a survey of the heads of the six largest tour operators conducted by the industry magazine "Travel Inside".

"We are currently over 20 percent up with advance bookings for 2024 in both Tour Operating and Retail," said Stephanie Schulze zur Wiesch, CEO of DER Touristik Suisse, known for the Kuoni brand. The number of guests would also develop disproportionately.

The Hotelplan Group's business has also got off to a "good start". According to boss Nicole Pfammatter, bookings are at "the expected level".

Meanwhile, Markus Kohli, CEO of the Knecht Travel Group, expects sales to increase in the current year. "In Tour Operating, we expect to return to pre-Covid levels, while in Retail we anticipate a higher level than before the pandemic," he emphasized. Twerenbold CEO Karim Twerenbold also anticipates sales growth in all of the Group's companies.

Only André Lüthi, CEO of the Globetrotter Group, was somewhat more cautious. He only expects sales in 2024 to be at the previous year's level. Only acquisitions could increase turnover, he said.
