Pedestrian hit and killed by car in Langenthal BE

A 74-year-old pedestrian was hit and fatally injured by a car on a pedestrian crossing in Langenthal BE on Friday evening. The exact circumstances of the accident are being investigated.

According to initial findings, the driver was traveling from Langenthal in the direction of Aarwangen at around 6.30 p.m., as detailed in a statement issued by the Bern cantonal police on Saturday. At the same time, the pedestrian had wanted to cross the road via a pedestrian crossing. For reasons still to be clarified, he was hit by the car and fatally injured.

Despite immediate rescue measures, the man, who lived in the canton of Bern, died of his serious injuries at the scene. The section of road affected was closed for several hours after the accident.
