The Bern cantonal police sealed off the Federal Palace on Monday morning. The reason for this was the visits to Bern by Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
The Bundesplatz was not accessible, as a reporter from the Keystone-SDA news agency reported. In front of the Bundeshaus, the barriers were covered with privacy screens. The police had deployed a water cannon on Bärenplatz.
The police had already announced last week that they would be deploying a visible force on Monday. There will also be road closures and traffic restrictions in the region.
Most police stations in the canton remained closed on Monday due to the operations in Bern and around the WEF. The police announced that basic police services would be maintained throughout the canton.
