Warnings of black ice on roads in German-speaking Switzerland

There was a considerable risk of black ice in parts of German-speaking Switzerland on Wednesday morning. Drivers were urged to drive carefully.

The canton of Schaffhausen warned of slippery roads and sidewalks via the Alertswiss warning service. According to the federal government's natural hazards portal, there was also a considerable danger in the regions around Aarau, Frauenfeld, Liestal BL, Lucerne, Solothurn, St. Gallen, Zurich and Zug.

The weather service Meteonews announced on the news platform X that the reason for this was rainfall with temperatures slightly below freezing. The situation should improve around 08:00, according to the federal natural hazards portal.
