The rail strike announced in Germany from Wednesday will lead to the cancellation of many cross-border rail connections to and from Germany. SBB is currently working on a replacement concept for the Swiss section of the route.
The aim is to ensure that domestic traffic is not affected as much as possible, SBB announced on Monday. The company is in close contact with Deutsche Bahn. The effects of the rail strike in Germany are still unclear in detail at the moment.
SBB wants to inform its customers as quickly as possible about the effects of the strike on Switzerland. They recommend that travel to or through Germany be postponed to another time. As part of a special goodwill gesture by Deutsche Bahn, travelers have the option of postponing their journey and using their ticket earlier or later.
The train drivers' union GDL has called on Deutsche Bahn employees to strike again on Monday night. This will begin in passenger transport early Wednesday morning at 2.00 a.m. and last until 6.00 p.m. on Monday next week. The union members at DB Cargo, which is responsible for freight transport, have already been called to strike from 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
