Online round-the-clock reporting of cybercrime with ePolice

Due to the significant increase in cybercrime, the police are now offering those affected a platform for reporting crime around the clock. Last year alone, over 57,000 crimes in the digital space (cybercrime) were reported.
Suisse ePolice has responded to the new circumstances and expanded the platform, according to a press release issued by the Conference of Cantonal Police Commanders (KKPKS) and the Police Technology and IT (PTI) on Wednesday. People affected by cybercrime can report offenses at www.suisse-epolice.ch.
By making it possible to report cybercrime online, around half of all cybercrimes could be reported without having to go to the police station. The law enforcement authorities are also dependent on the consistent reporting of cybercrime.
Such offenses include payment for online purchases without having received the goods, misuse of personal data when placing orders or false advertisements for apartments or real estate.
The new online display service is being introduced in twelve cantons as a first step. These include Appenzell Innerrhoden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Bern, Fribourg, Glarus, Graubünden, Lucerne, Neuchâtel, St. Gallen, Schwyz, Zug and Zurich. Other cantons are to follow.
