River Aare Tragedy: Woman Found Deceased Near Dählhölzli Zoo

River Aare becomes the focus of a tragic discovery as a woman is found dead near Dählhölzli Zoo, suspected of accidentally falling into a tributary.

In a distressing development, the cantonal police retrieved a woman’s body from the River Aare near the Dählhölzli Zoo in Bern. This heartbreaking incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, following reports that the woman had accidentally fallen into the Gürbe, a tributary of the River Aare while walking her dog in Belp.

Despite prompt and intense resuscitation efforts by the emergency services, they could only confirm the woman’s death. Witnesses initially alerted the police at around 11.30 am after spotting a lifeless body floating in the river near Muri.

In the evening, they brought no conclusion to the victim’s formal identification process. Investigators are thoroughly examining the circumstances that led to her falling into the Gürbe in Belp. Current insights from the police suggest the incident was an unfortunate accident. During the extensive rescue operations, the riverside path near the zoo was temporarily closed.

This tragic event at River Aare, involving the untimely death of a woman, has cast a pall over the community as the investigation into the exact cause continues.
