Swiss film “Electric Fields” big winner at the Max Ophüls Prize

The Swiss film "Electric Fields" (CH 2024) by Lisa Gertsch (director and screenwriter) has scooped the 45th Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival in Saarbrücken. The black-and-white film received three awards on Saturday evening: the main prize of 36,000 euros for the best feature film, the Fritz Raff Screenplay Prize and the Film Critics' Prize.

A total of 18 awards with a total value of 118,500 euros were presented, including 14 jury prizes and four audience prizes. A total of 58 films entered the competition in four categories: feature film, documentary, medium-length film and short film.

During the festival week, 131 films were screened in 226 screenings. The festival stands for the discovery of young talent from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
