Truck driver charged with drunk driving in Ticino

The Ticino cantonal police have stopped a truck driver near Biasca with over one percent alcohol in his blood. The man was banned from driving in Switzerland.

The truck driver coming from Italy was checked on Wednesday near Biasca, according to the Ticino cantonal police. The man's vehicle was registered in Germany.

During the breath alcohol test, a blood alcohol content of 0.53 milligrams per liter was determined. This corresponds to a blood alcohol concentration of over one per mille.

The man is charged with serious violations of the Road Traffic Act and driving under the influence of alcohol.
