The number of new companies founded in Switzerland fell slightly at the start of the new year. In January 2024, a total of 4276 new companies were registered in this country, which corresponds to a decline of 9% compared to the previous month.
Compared to the same month last year, however, around 3% more new companies were added to the commercial register, as the online portal Help.ch reported on Thursday. Compared to January 2022, the number of start-ups even increased by 12 percent.
Meanwhile, company deletions remained stable in January. A total of 2828 companies were removed from the commercial register in the month under review, the same number as in December, but 7 percent more than in January 2023.
