A 42-year-old mother is now facing charges in the canton of Solothurn for the abduction of her son to Germany. In addition to her, two other women have been charged with complicity, as the Solothurn public prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday.

In October 2021, the mother, who comes from Germany, did not return her then 5-year-old son to his father's care in the canton of Solothurn after the vacations. The boy was reported missing and was only found a month later in Bavaria after an extensive investigation, according to the public prosecutor's office.

He was able to return to his father unharmed. The public prosecutor's office accuses the mother of bringing the 5-year-old to Germany against his father's will and has therefore charged her with kidnapping and abducting minors.

A 46-year-old Swiss woman and a 50-year-old Italian woman are accused of assisting the mother in the kidnapping, which is why they have to answer for aiding and abetting.

The date of the main hearing before the Dorneck-Thierstein magistrates' court in Dornach SO has not yet been set, according to the public prosecutor's office.
