TCS Swiss Ambulance Rescue (TCS SAR) is taking over the rescue service Intermedic, based in Berikon AG. The company is thus expanding its leading position in emergency rescue and patient transportation, as the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) announced on Tuesday.

The company, which is majority-owned by TCS, carries out around 30,000 assignments in Switzerland every year. The takeover of Intermedic, with 40 employees and ten vehicles, is a further step in the expansion strategy of TCS SAR, which was founded in Geneva in 2021.

Largest rescue service in Switzerland

Together with Intermedic, TCS SAR is now represented in the six cantons of Aargau, Zurich, Lucerne, Zug, Vaud and Geneva and is further expanding its leading position as the largest rescue service in Switzerland. A total of 180 employees are deployed from 14 bases with around 50 vehicles.

"We are proud to contribute to the development of the preclinical field by achieving synergies with our core activities," TCS Director General Jürg Wittwer was quoted as saying in a press release. Bruno Nägeli, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Intermedic, described the non-profit organization TCS as an ideal partner for the Aargau-based company.
