Ticino mayor suspended due to criminal proceedings

The mayor of the municipality of Cerentino in Ticino has been suspended from office at his own request. The reason for the suspension is the opening of criminal proceedings against the mayor for financial offenses.
The Ticino cantonal government has accepted the suspension of the mayor of Cerentino and president of the local patriciate at its own request, as it announced on Tuesday. The government had previously been informed by the public prosecutor's office of the criminal proceedings that had been opened.
The deputy mayor and the vice president will be temporarily entrusted with the management of the municipal council and the patriciate, the communiqué concludes.
