Justice Resurfaces: Decade-Old Mystery Unraveled

Murder in Frauenfeld

Murder in Frauenfeld over ten years ago finally sees the inside of a courtroom. A Swiss man and an Italian man are accused of killing a 27-year-old Egyptian man in 2007. Why did this case take so long to get into court?

Investigators were in the dark for a long time. Upon re-examining the case in 2018 and with the public’s help after the Thurgau cantonal police turned to the public in the TV show “Aktenzeichen XY ungelöst.”

Information following the television program, extensive investigations, and surveillance finally led to the suspects in March 2022.

From Monday, the two men will stand trial for the Murder in Frauenfeld at the district court. The two men are accused of luring their victim, who lived in the canton of Schaffhausen, to the edge of a forest. There, they shot the man several times with a pistol, aiming the last shot at his head.

The body was eventually found in Lake Barchet. It was weighed down with a 30-kilogram concrete element.
