Double Payday Glitch: Zurich’s 30,000 Employees Receive February Salaries Twice Due to Bank Error

Keystone/SDA – STEFFEN SCHMIDT

The city of Zurich has paid its 30,000 employees their February salaries twice.

The error was made by the bank, as the city and Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB) announced on Monday afternoon.

According to the press release, everything went correctly with the administration. A technical processing error occurred at the bank.

As a result, the salary payment for February was triggered twice. However, the 30,000 people affected cannot enjoy the additional salary – there is an obligation to repay it.

The sum of the overpayments amounts to 175 million francs. The ZKB is now working with the city on a solution for a simple repayment.
