The FDP regrets the Yes vote on the 13th AHV pension. It called on the Minister of the Interior, Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, to carry out a rapid structural AHV revision. Switzerland is facing a financial policy shambles with its unsecured financing.

The Left Party would bear responsibility for these dishonest maneuvers, the party wrote. It will "oppose any attempts to fleece the middle classes and will not compromise on the debt brake". The FDP is no longer prepared to continually increase taxes and levies so that the AHV does not slide into the red.

The introduction of the 13th AHV pension from 2026 will burden the federal finances with CHF 800 million a year. The left must show how it intends to finance this while complying with the debt brake. The debt brake is also a constitutional mandate. If constructive austerity measures are opposed, the federal contribution to the AHV fund should be reduced.

Children and grandchildren would regret rejecting the pension initiative with a higher retirement age in line with life expectancy.
