The Glarus cantonal court will deal with a homicide in Netstal GL on Wednesday. In October 2021, a 27-year-old man shot his ex-girlfriend at close range with a pistol. The public prosecutor's office is suing for murder.

The accused deliberately killed a person and acted in a particularly ruthless manner, the Glarus public prosecutor's office writes in the indictment. In particular, the motive, the purpose of the act or the manner in which it was carried out were particularly reprehensible. If the alleged perpetrator of the murder is convicted, he faces a prison sentence of ten years to life imprisonment.

She laughed at him

The homicide occurred shortly after midnight on October 16, 2021 in a parking lot in Netstal. The woman, who had previously ended her relationship with the accused, agreed to one last meeting. According to the public prosecutor's office, she allegedly "laughed" at the perpetrator because of the toy pistol he was carrying.

But the gun was real. The man shot the woman, who was sitting at the wheel of her car, twice. Each of the shots would have been fatal, writes the public prosecutor.

Shortly before the crime, the shooter allegedly wrote the last words of "Romeo to Juliet" from William Shakespeare's play on Apple Notes, according to the public prosecutor's office. Translated, they read: "Eyes, look your last! Arms, take the last embrace! And, O lips, you, the gates of breath, seal with rightful kiss the eternal contract to the usurious death."

Handling the weapon watched on videos

The murder weapon, a 7.65 millimeter calibre pistol, had been taken by the man unnoticed from a friend's apartment in Horgen ZH. Before using it, he watched ten videos on YouTube to find out how to handle pistols.

The victim and perpetrator, both of Tibetan origin, had met in April 2020 through an online game. He lived in a refugee home in Alsace (F) before moving into his own apartment in Mulhouse, while she lived in Netstal. A personal relationship developed, although meetings were initially not possible due to the coronavirus pandemic. Later, the two saw each other repeatedly in a hotel in Zurich or at locations in Glarnerland.

The relationship broke down due to differences of opinion, including political ones. According to the public prosecutor's office, the relationship repeatedly broke off. On October 6, 2021, ten days before the murder, the relationship had come to an end.
