A false bomb threat led to the terminal at Euroairport Basel-Mulhouse being closed for around two hours on Saturday. It was the second after such a threat on Friday and the third this year.

As airport spokeswoman Manuela Witzig said on request on Saturday, the terminal was closed at around 2 pm. Based on news scouts, the news portal "20 Minuten" wrote that around 300 people were affected by the closure. Witzig was unable to provide any information on the number of evacuees.

Euroairport had already received several false bomb threats last year.

A look at the Euroairport website showed that planes were taking off and landing in Basel-Mulhouse even while the terminal was closed. Witzig referred questions regarding the care of these departing or arriving passengers to the Prefecture of the Upper Rhine in France, which is responsible for security issues.

Numerous bomb threats also led to the temporary closure of other airports in France last year.
