Spider-Man, Captain America and co. pay their respects in Basel

An exhibition in Basel takes visitors into the original and grotesque universe of Marvel's superheroes. The exhibition is like a walk through a 3D comic.
The green man-monster Hulk welcomes visitors to the "Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes" exhibition in the spacious Hall 1.2 at Messe Basel. This well-known figure offers the opportunity for a selfie even before the entrance to the exhibition route.
Other figures, such as the stone monster "The Thing" from "Fantastic Four" or the famous Spider-Man, offer further opportunities for a photographic rendezvous - if you can get there in the expected large crowds from Saturday.
The organizers, primarily Semmel Exhibitions and Act Entertainment from Basel, are expecting over 200,000 visitors by the end of August. Over 10,000 tickets have already been sold in advance, said Thomas Dürr from Act Entertainment at the media tour on Thursday.
European premiere of the exhibition
The exhibition on the Marvel universe was - how could it be otherwise - developed in the USA. Just like the comics and the films, which have long been part of the pop culture canon. The presentation in Basel is the first outside the USA, making it a European premiere, as was emphasized at the media conference.
The exhibition, which leads from comic hero to comic hero, offers insights into the history and stories of the Marvel characters, all of whom are actually also anti-heroes. This begins with original drawings from the earliest comics from the 1930s and leads to the well-known film characters, who can be admired behind glass as mannequins in their original costumes.
One of the highlights of the exhibition, which mainly features grand gestures, is very small: it is a beautifully composed scene from "Ant-Man". In a hologram projection, the tiny figures Ant Man and The Wasp can be seen scurrying through a table landscape.
The "Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes" exhibition in Hall 1.2 of Messe Basel can be seen until August 31.
