Climeworks, a company specializing in CO2 extraction and storage, has signed a contract with the Danish manufacturer Lego for the extraction of carbon dioxide from the air. The contract has a term of nine years and a value of 2.4 million US dollars.

The Zurich-based company has also reached a similar agreement with the Danish investment company Kirkbi for 405,000 US dollars, as Climeworks announced on Tuesday.

The branch of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, which employs around 200 people, has developed an air filter technology with which carbon dioxide can be retained and then stored underground.

Climeworks also signed a similar contract with Swiss at the beginning of March.
