According to Child Protection Switzerland, the number of reports almost tripled in the second year of the online reporting center for pedocriminal content on the Internet. "cklickandstop.ch" forwarded almost 1100 reports to the law enforcement authorities for deletion.

Between April 2023 and March 2024, 1097 reports were received, as reported by the organization Child Protection Switzerland on Thursday. In the same period in 2022/2023, there were 411 reports of problematic content.

The counseling service was also used 50% more. There was a particular increase in inquiries about sextortion, i.e. blackmail with intimate images. According to Child Protection Switzerland, this topic accounted for almost half of the counseling sessions at "clickandstop.ch". An increasing number of victims came forward who had been blackmailed with real or artificially generated nude images.

This revealed a lack of protective strategies. Not only professionals, but also parents and caregivers feel helpless in the face of this problem, according to child protection. Greater cooperation between all social forces is needed to raise awareness and prevent this problem.

According to Child Protection Switzerland, the consumption and production of pedocriminal content is on the rise in Switzerland. Currently, every second child claims to have been sexually harassed on the internet.

According to prosecutors, it takes an average of three minutes for a child to be exposed to explicit sexual advances in chat or game forums. Artificial intelligence also makes it easier to produce images of sexual violence against children and young people.

Child Protection Switzerland set up the hotline in April 2022. The organization is a nationwide foundation with the aim of ensuring that all children in Switzerland grow up in protection and dignity in accordance with the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Rights of the Child.
