Twenty to forty centimetres of fresh snow have fallen on the northern slopes of the Alps above around 1000 meters in the past twelve hours. Up to fifty centimetres of fresh snow fell in the central and eastern Alps.

This was announced by MeteoSwiss on X on Saturday. A photo from Brigels in the canton of Graubünden showed the clear difference. The area changed from a green meadow to a snowy landscape covered in white.

According to MeteoSwiss, further snowfall is expected in the mountains on Sunday night.
