The municipal council of La Chaux-de-Fonds NE remains on the left and is made up of one seat each from the SP, the Greens, the Labor Party, the FDP and the SVP. In Le Locle NE, a right-wing majority took over with the FDP. There are signs of a change of power in Neuchâtel.
There, the left secured a good starting position for the second round of voting. The SP and Green alliance took the first four places in the election of the city government, even though no one achieved an absolute majority. The left could therefore win a majority in the second round of voting. 17 candidates stood for election.
In La Chaux-de-Fonds, municipal councillors Théo Bregnard (Party of Labor), Thierry Brechbühler (SVP), Jean-Daniel Jeanneret (FDP) and Théo Huguenin-Elie (SP) were re-elected. With the election of Ilinka Guyot (Greens), the executive is no longer all-male.
The Labor Party received the most votes (22.81%) and Bregnard was the best elected of all candidates with 2317 votes. The SP received 21.11 percent of the vote, the FDP 17.69 percent, the SVP 16 percent and the Greens 12.96 percent.
In the municipal elections in Le Locle on Sunday, the FDP took the majority in the executive. The Labor Party lost one seat and still has one, while the Greens were able to keep theirs. The SP returned to the municipal government with one seat.
In Boudry NE, the election campaign revolved around issues surrounding the federal asylum center. The left-wing parties retained a small majority of 21 seats in the 41-member municipal parliament. The Greens lost four seats to six, while the SP gained three seats to 15. The FDP gained 20 seats.
In Neuchâtel and Cressier NE, the municipal executives are elected by majority system, in La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle by proportional representation. In the other Neuchâtel municipalities, the executive is elected by the municipal parliaments.
