Vaudois illustrator Etienne Delessert passes away

The Vaud artist Etienne Delessert died of cancer on Sunday night, as his friend Jacques Poget confirmed to the Keystone-SDA news agency on Monday. Born in 1941, the illustrator and father of the character Yok-Yok from the children's series of the same name had lived in Lakeville, Connecticut (USA) for almost 40 years.
The newspaper "24 heures" initially reported on this.
Etienne Delessert first made a name for himself in Paris and New York with advertising and posters, and later with illustrations, animated films and paintings.
The artist had also made a name for himself internationally as a press illustrator. In March 2023, he was awarded the Swiss Grand Prix for Design.
Last June, Etienne Delessert donated around 200 works to the canton of Vaud, which were distributed among various institutions, including the Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts. A retrospective is planned for 2025 at the Espace Arlaud in Lausanne.
