Investigations by the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland in eastern Switzerland

In the cantons of St. Gallen and Appenzell Ausserrhoden, the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland has carried out several house searches as part of criminal proceedings. The cases concern violations of the War Material Act and the Weapons Act.
The St. Gallen cantonal police, the federal police and specialists from the army were also deployed. A media spokeswoman for the Office of the Attorney General confirmed a report by the FM1Today radio station. Previously, several police officers had been spotted near St. Margrethen SG railroad station. According to the online edition of the St. Galler Tagblatt, a search was carried out in a second-hand shop selling Nazi memorabilia.
In addition to the house searches, several people were questioned on Tuesday as part of the criminal proceedings in question. However, no one is currently in custody, the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland announced on request. There was no immediate danger to the public.
The authorities did not provide any further information about the criminal proceedings being conducted against a person.
