Child killed in accident in Köniz BE

A child was killed in an accident in Köniz near Bern on Tuesday evening. According to the cantonal police, the child was trapped by an agricultural vehicle and seriously injured.
Despite immediate rescue measures, the child died of his serious injuries in hospital shortly afterwards, the Bern cantonal police and the public prosecutor's office announced on Wednesday. The police were alerted shortly after 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
A police spokeswoman did not want to provide any further details about the accident when asked. It initially remained unclear whether it was a traffic accident or an accident at work and where exactly it happened. The age and gender of the child were also not disclosed.
Several patrols and special services of the Bern cantonal police were deployed. Further investigations are under the direction of the Bern-Mittelland regional public prosecutor's office, according to the press release.
