160,000 French people vote for the EU Parliament from Switzerland

Around 160,000 French citizens living in Switzerland are eligible to vote in the European elections from June 6 to 9. French nationals were able to register on the electoral lists at the consulates in Zurich and Geneva until Friday.

On the cut-off date of March 31, 2024, 158,993 people were registered on the French electoral lists in Switzerland, a spokesperson for the French embassy in Bern told the Keystone-SDA news agency on Friday. Switzerland is home to the largest French community living abroad.

French voters will take part in the European elections on June 9. On this Sunday, they will elect 81 MEPs from France. To enable French citizens living in Switzerland to vote, 61 French polling stations will be open throughout the country on election day.

The citizens of the European Union will renew the EU Parliament from June 6 to 9. Depending on the country, the election will take place on a different date and on one or more days. A total of 720 MEPs will be elected.
