The University of Bern does not accept the occupation of rooms by pro-Palestinian students. It asked the occupiers to leave the rooms immediately on Monday afternoon.

The situation is intolerable for the university, explained Rector Christian Leumann in a press release. "I will explain this to the squatters personally on site. We will not be blackmailed."

The occupation of several rooms in the Unitobler building began at 6 p.m. on Sunday. The activists accuse the university of taking a one-sided pro-Israeli stance. The university should cut all ties with Israeli universities and enter into a dialog with the occupiers. The occupation should continue until the demands are met.
