Ski tourer falls to his death on the Breithorn

A ski tourer crashed and was fatally injured on the Breithorn in the Valais Alps on Sunday. According to the police, the man slipped on an icy patch.
The 26-year-old Swiss man was in a group of three on the Breithorn shortly before 11.00 a.m., according to the Welsh cantonal police. While climbing the north face, he lost his footing and fell around 300 meters.
It was initially unclear why the accident occurred. The two people accompanying the man remained physically unharmed. The rescue workers they called were only able to determine that the 26-year-old had died, it was reported.
